McDonald's

McDonald's in China? That's practically an oxymoron considering that China is still a communist nation. Regardless of where McDonald's spreads to, though, is actually irrelevant because no matter where the franchise expands to, a rise in heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, with resulting diabetes, stroke, heart attacks, etc., etc. are sure to follow. There's no question about it.

Before this huge economic boom in China occurred, one of the things I prided myself on being of Chinese decent and upbringing was our overall healthy lifestyle. Now I'm sure all the weird food and rancid teas our parents made us drink when we were growing up will no doubt do a number on our liver/kidneys later on in life. But I'm referring more to our day-to-day diet and lifestyles.

For example, countless numbers in China rode their bicycles to work/school/market or wherever. Now, with the growing economy people have more money to buy luxury items like cars and SUV's and now drive to their place of destination instead of doing some exercise. To add to all of this, people in China will now be stuffing their faces with crap from McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, or other sickening fast food. In essence, China will not only be catching up to the U.S. in terms of economic growth and lifestyle, but the fat-ass will as well; the Chinese fat-ass will quickly match and likely overtake the American fat-ass. And I daresay that the Chinese fat-ass will overtake because there are 1 billion Chinese out there, with so much more potential to balloon up to the mega-Large sizes.
